 Imran Khan names Pakistan's ex-chief judge as caretaker prime minister; the Supreme Court will start hearings today.



On Monday, Imran Khan chastised the opposition parties for seeking respite from the Supreme Court rather than preparing for elections. Members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party successfully vetoed a vote of no confidence in Khan in the National Assembly on Sunday, forcing President Arif Alvi to dissolve the lower chamber.

The hearing in the case was deferred by Pakistan's Supreme Court on Monday.

Gulzar Ahmed, Pakistan's former chief justice, has been nominated by incumbent Imran Khan for the position of caretaker prime minister, amid the country's current political crisis.

On the dissolution of the National Assembly, the Supreme Court has ruled: The hearing in the case was deferred by Pakistan's Supreme Court on Monday. Members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party vetoed a vote of no confidence in Khan in the National Assembly on Sunday.
