Nehra, Ashish The inclusion of a star cricketer in India's squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka "surprised" him.

For the present three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, India are missing former captain Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. However, after missing the series against the West Indies due to various reasons, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are back in the fray. Both senior players played in India's 62-run victory over Sri Lanka in the opening T20I in Lucknow on Thursday. Due to the unavailability of KL Rahul, who is injured, Bumrah was selected vice-captain for the series. Former India pacer Ashish Nehra was "surprised" to see Bumrah included in the team for the series before of the first T20I.

"Bumrah's participation in these three T20Is astounded me. Without a doubt, every player wants to participate, but the T20I series is followed by two Tests. There will be more matches in the future. We now have more options, and other players require game experience and confidence "During a Cricbuzz conversation, Nehra stated.

Bumrah's presence, according to Nehra, would limit opportunities for other players, notably experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been struggling to find his form but had a good effort against the West Indies.
